I just got lip piercing Friday... How do i take care of it?... How do I clean it?..?
Firstly, no alcohol for 2 weeks, and everytime you smoke, eat or drink wash your mouth out with mouthwash after.

For cleaning: boil a mug of water, add a teaspoon of salt, leave it to cool, apply it to your lip with a cotton pad/ear bud, gently removing crust, then pat dry gently.

It's a long time from Friday to today, so I wouldn't be suprised if it's already getting a nice infection in it.
honestly i just used mouth wash and soap... and dont change it.. wait tell it heals...

  • Lip peircing care...HELP!?

I just got my lip done about 2 hours ago acctually

    and i want to know

what should I use to clean it with

and when can i change the ring?

    THANKS!Lip peircing care...HELP!?
Lip piercings can take anywhere from 6-8 weeks if not longer to heal. Make sure to not leave the jewelry out for more then a few minutes as the hole can close easily. It can take up to 1-2 years before you will be able to remove the jewelry for periods more than a day. There will be some swelling. Swelling usually occurs 2-3 days after the piercing and can last up to 7-10 days. After the initial healing swelling has gone down (about 2 weeks) you can go back to the piercer and have them change the labret stud/ring to a smaller stud/ring. Make sure to not play with or chew on the piercing during the healing process doing so could lead to excess scar tissue formation. Be careful where you swim. Avoid public pools and hot tubs until the piercing has healed. Do not touch the new piercing. Don't let anyone else touch the pierced area until it is healed.

    To clean the piercing:

Wash your hands with soap before cleaning the piercing. Use anti-bacterial soap to clean the jewelry only in the shower, and rinse well. Do non-iodized sea salt soaks 2-3 times per day. The correct proportion is 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt to 8 ounces of warm water.

Don鈥檛 ever use hydrogen peroxide, alcohol swabs, or alcohol-based cleansers on the piercing. They are very harsh and dry out your skin prolonging the healing period. Choose an antibacterial mouthwash that does not contain alcohol and rinse your mouth after all meals and snacks. NEVER use an ointment like neosporin it keeps your piercing to moist, causing bacteria to spread. Neosporin prevents oxygen from reaching the wound. It is not designed for use on healing piercings.

You can also use vitamin C, B-vitamins, and a zinc supplement to promote healing. Vitamin E oil can help if you ever get a bump (most likely scar tissue). Lavender oil also helps with if the piercing becomes dry; it also promotes healing, lubricates the piercing, and reduces tenderness. Just make sure to dilute it (1-2 drops in warm water).Lip peircing care...HELP!?
you can also use dial soap the one that u use for ur hands clean it about 3 -4 times a day and u can change it after 2 weeks
sea salt and water soaks about 3 times a day use a shot glass it works very well sea salt is the best thing for cleaning any piercing it pulls the dirt right out i have a lot of piercings and it works wonderfully for me i also have my lip pierced everyone will tell you to use sea salt
you use sea salt spray to clean it, you should have recieved some from the piercer because they always give you something to clean your piercings with especially if it's in the mouth area..
different people like to use different things, if you want something simple and straightforward you can just use a mild soap and water or salty water. there are also products specifially for cleaning piercings, h2ocean is one of the best.

to be safe, you should wait about 6 weeks before changing the ring.
I have a lip peircing too. What you have to do is clean it two or three times a day for the first week with salt water (boil some water and mix it in with salt in a small glass), inside and outside. Also if you can buy some tea tree oil, use it on the outside of your lip after you clean it with salt water, just a few drops. After a week, just clean it 1 or 2 times a day, depending on how it's healing :) Wouldn't reccomend changing the ring for at least 2 weeks.

    Lip Piercing Care.................?

ok so i need general advice of what a piercer would give to the person he pierced, i got my dont and he gave me none. Please help.Lip Piercing Care.................?
wash it with a salt water solution 3 times a day

use cotton buds to get wid of the crusty bits

and swish it round the front of your mouthLip Piercing Care.................?
I was talking to my uncle the other day who is training as a piercer, and he told me that if I had mine done then I should just use listerine to keep the inside of my mouth clean and stop infections as I also have my tongue done. And for the outside he said to use salt water, basically you just need to keep it from going septic so any antiseptic creams surely should work... but I don't think you can place them inside of your mouth.
Use listerine or other mouth wash to make sure the germs are gone from ur mouth, also just put antibacterial liquid on every day. You should be fine!
You could always call or go back to ask. Hell, you could have at least tried to ask when you were in the shop...

Anyway, when I got my lip pierced I'd swish sea salt water in my mouth after everytime I smoked/ate/kissed. I cleaned the outside with sea salt water too, but would then rinse it off with fresh water. If you decide to use mouthwash, make sure it's alcohol-free.
you should complain because they have to tell you how to care for it.

use sea salt and water to clean your piercing. Only sea salt, no table salt. The solution is 1/4 of a teaspoon to every cup of warm water. Soak your piercing in it for a couple minutes and then rinse with clean water and pat dry.

Do this every time you eat or smoke. Don't use any antibacterial soap or anything. If it gets infected leave it in and consult your piercer. Never take out an infected piercing, it can trap the infection inside wherever you got pierced.

Don't pick off crusty bits unless you have softened them in warm water first. Do not touch your piercing unless you have washed your hands first.

How to care for lip piercing?

ok well i got my lip pierced a while ago i just want to know if theres anythnig i can put on it to stop it from getting little crusties like i clean it but its like dried out so help pleaseHow to care for lip piercing?
just by clening carfully dailyHow to care for lip piercing?
Well it's going to be like that for a couple of more weeks. You can use bactine so it doesnt get too infected. just keep cleaning it and in no time your lip will be healed.
just keep it clean: warm water, antibacterial soap, and sea salt. the crusties are going to happen because your lip has to get used to the jewelry. it'll stop in a week or so.

Taking care of a lip piercing?

i just had my lip pierced by my friend and it came out perfect, but im worried about it getting infected. i know i need to clean it with a saline solution. i heard you can clean it with just mouthwash too, if so what kind would be best? what should i stay away from that could cause it to become infected and is there anything else i should really know? and my friend isnt a professional so i'm guessing the chances for infection would be greater.Taking care of a lip piercing?
i've had my lip peiced for a while, just clean it with salt and warm water when you wake up and before you go to bed. it will feel sore for a while but just keep doing the salt and warm water for about two weeks. My lip turned out great and never got infected, my peircer told me to use the salt and warm water too. good luck. oh ps make sure you are turning it so the skin doesn't grow over it.Taking care of a lip piercing?
Make sure that you wash the outside daily with a non-scented, antibacterial soap like Dial. I used to clean it three times a day but I think once in the morning and once in the evening is good enough. Also make sure to clean the inside of your mouth with a non-alcohol mouthwash for around one minute after every meal. You can also mix warm water and sea salt and gargle that in your mouth for about 15 seconds and then spit it out.

They say to not drink alcohol but I think I did that same night and I was fine. They also say to not smoke, but I did that too and it turned out awesome for me. They say to not eat salty or spicy foods, and I didn't but I remember my friend did when she got hers done and it stung and irritated her mouth a bit so I would stay away from those foods. If you do drink or smoke make sure to clean the piercing thoroughly after you do so.

Also you should try to eat ice cream or anything cold and frozen as it will reduce the swelling.

Make sure whenever you are cleaning it that your hands or clean otherwise you are just feeding the bacteria on your hands into your new wound. There will be some puss and sometimes crust so make sure to clean those whenever you see them.
Stay away from mouth wash with alcohol in it (and alcohol in general, for that matter) and dairy. Saline solution could work (I've never used it), but I've had good luck with sea salt soaks (a pinch of sea salt to a cup of warm water).
    lip piercings are hottt

    Lip piercing care :S?

i just got my lip pierced i want to know some things

Will mouthwash be cool to clean it in?

How long do i have to wait to eat food ?

and yea any other things u can tell me ?Lip piercing care :S?
You should be using non-alcoholic mouthwash to clean your mouth out after eating, drinking or smokeing. Also when you get up and before bed. You could also use a sea salt rinse if you chose. You also need to clean the outside with anti-bacterial soap 2-3 times a day. You can perform sea salt soaks on the outside to help it heal. Just as importantly, KEEP YOUR HANDS AWAY FROM IT. Hands are covered in germs and dirt, so don't aggravate your piercing by playing with it.

You don't need to wait to eat food, but do avoid things that will stretch your mouth out or press on the piercing. So no giant hamburgers for a couple of weeks. Always rinse your mouth after eating.

NO ORAL SEX until you have healed (at least 3 weeks, preferably more). Getting your partner's fluids in the piercing can cause irritation, bacterial infection, or even put you at greater risk for contracting STD's.

Kissing can also introduce bacteria, so avoid it all together or at least clean your piercing thoroughly. The more you irritate your piercing with germs and friction, the more slowly it will heal.

    Lip/Nail Care Tips???

Do you have have nail or lip care tips?

My lips are medium sized (not big, but not thin either).

I used natural lip balms and vaseline, is there anything else I can do? Is there a way I can make them look fuller without buying anything?

My nails are short and I'm trying to grow them out.

I already moisturize like crazy, is there anything else I can do?

    Any tips?

Oh yeah, and I take a multivitamin.

    Thanks(:Lip/Nail Care Tips???
Okay my nails used to be like yours! like you said your taking a vitamin try taking a different one. Also Paint your nails a lot! because when you use the nail polish remover that gives it strength to grow longer and not to break as easy!

and about your lips im not sure there's anything you can do but make sure your lips are smooth then take lip stick/lip gloss which ever one you use put in on and then try putting lip liner on

i hope that helped!Lip/Nail Care Tips???
i use olive oil before i go bed i just rub it in a leave them. they've very soft in the morning lol. Im not sure whether it helps them look fuller but they do look healthy. Try using a pale nail varnish so it doesn't really attract much attention to them when you're out and about. i don't think there is anything you can do to make them grow faster or get fuller because you can't really change them. as nails are dead, literally. but when you grow them out try doing a square shape, that makes them look really cool and they might appear fuller.

and try using a clear gloss on your lips!!
for your lips use a small spoon of Vaseline and a small spoon of honey and a little bit of water..

mix them together and put some on your lips for three days and you can put it in the fridge meanwhile..

and just a note..don't use any chemical products when you are using that mixture..and make sure you are not allergic to honey or Vaseline..

i used that and my lips became like strawberry..delicious..lol :)

    good luck..

i would love to hear about the result :)
