How do you take care of a lip piercing?

I just got my lip pierced 3 weeks ago, so i know this pretty well haha.

For the first 3 days, i took a pain reliever/fever reducer to reduce swelling (specifically i took Aleve) every 12 hours to keep the swelling down, but you will swell a little anyway, thats why they give you a bigger bar. I slept with my head propped up a little for the first few nights too, just to prevent extra blood rushing to my head.

As well, i bought a bottle of Bactine, a small bottle of scope mouthwash, and a tube of neosporin. Once in the morning, and once at night i pushed the bar outwards so it stuck out more than usual (with very clean hands of course) and sprayed a tissue and cleaned the outside of my piercing with bactine and then lightly coated the outside with neosporin.

Also, after every meal i rinsed my mouth out with the mouth wash, but you shouldn't do that too often because most mouthwashes contain alcohol, which, as well as cleaning and disinfecting, also kills cells and believe me you do not want the cells around newly pierced skin dying.

After about 7-10 days on average the swelling should go down completely and you should go back to your piercer to get a bar that is more fitting to your now not-swollen face.

And thats pretty much it, other than leave the piercing in for 3 weeks before changing to a new bar, to make sure it is healed enough to handle it.

Good Luck :)How do you take care of a lip piercing?
Lip piercings are super easy to take care of as long as you have the right stuff.

In the morning yout lip might be a bit swollen so mix about hald paroxide with water and gargle for 30 seconds, then wipe the outside with the same mixture. after you brush your teeth use mouthwash.

After eating, brush and use mouthwash.

Before bed, do the same thing you did in the morning

At least once a day put a very very small amount of no cented moisturiser (vasalien works best) around the outside of the piercing. This stops it from getting to dry

GOOD LUCK ! :)How do you take care of a lip piercing?
