My boyfriend got lip piercings (snakebites) today and we wanted to know how he can take good care of them?

My boyfriend got snakebites today and here are my questions:

When he got this done the professional was piercing his lip and hit a blood vessel on one of the sides, he stopped bleeding after 10 minutes but is this going to effect his health (infections, blood clots, etc.)?

What can he do to take real good care of them and make them heal faster? cuz i cant kiss him much till they heal =[

Will this affect his eating habits? Like eating things that make you use your front teeth like hamburgers and hotdogs. Will he have to break the food apart to keep from getting it on his piercings?

Last question: Will these piercings effect his job opportunities? Like what average 16 year old jobs will and will not accept it?

Best detailed, descriptive, and most helpful answer will recieve best answer! ^_^ Thanks so much!My boyfriend got lip piercings (snakebites) today and we wanted to know how he can take good care of them?
clean after eating and rise mouth out with half Listerine and half water, do not do straight Listerine it will burn. to clean put soap (Dial is best for piercings) on a q tip for the outside and spin around with q tip. clean the insides with the half water/listerine. he will be sore for a while when it comes to eating so eat things such as spaghetti and soft things till the swelling goes down and try to take some aspirin. yes no kissing lol they will heal much faster if you do not kiss. do not play around all day with them because you touch everything with your hands and they are full of germs. if your boyfriend is looking for a job wait until he is able to take the lip piercings in and out. some places its a very big no no (like fast food) but I know at my supermarket I have a friend that many facial piercings with include snakebites and it did not affect the job. just wait to be safe though. drink from a straw for the next day or two

i had snakebites before; good luck

p.s. i took mine out only because i did not want them anymore, which will only leave a small hole (looks like a prin prick)My boyfriend got lip piercings (snakebites) today and we wanted to know how he can take good care of them?
he'll regret getting them, so, soon enough he won't even have to worry about them anymore because he'll want to take them out. end of story.
Do not play with the piercings [dont move em around]

EATING HABBITS ??? nooo.

Probably yes, but that would be profiling and stereotype
remove them be for to much scar tissue builds up unless you like permazit looking things on your face or ask a pharmacist there awesome
he will want to take them out in a year
1 kids these days need to start listening when they get piercings, because the piercers fully explan the healing process and how long it takes and what to do and what you can and cant do, so i dont get all the ';omg, how do i clean my piercing'; questions, but ill be nice this time and actually answer. eating is weird for alittle bit, hes gotta be careful not to bite the rings, but it doesnt really change how you eat.. and no he cant kiss you alot for awhile, because the risk of infections. keep them clean like the piercer said and he should be fine.

#2 yes it can effect his jobs. i have to put spacers (clear things) into my piercings when im at work. most jobs wont let him have them, my bf had snakebites and he worked at culvers and they even made him take them out.

Is it normal if your vaginas lips to be fairly large and do guys care?

I know one guy who prefers to see some of the inner labia peeking out. I like all the different ways ladies look.Is it normal if your vaginas lips to be fairly large and do guys care?
we do not care at all.Is it normal if your vaginas lips to be fairly large and do guys care?
No, we don't care.
Everyone's are different and guys do not seem to care at all.
No! It doesnt matter at all! Sex is sex for a guy rite!! Penises are all different sizes!!!
all women are different some have larger or smaller body parts than others i don't think the size of your lips are an issue to most men
Yes, it is quite normal. Sizes can vary, like breast and penis size. And no, men do not care.

  • Do men care if a woman has large vagina lips?

I know they are all different, but I'm just wondering.Do men care if a woman has large vagina lips?
Women's genitals come in all shapes, sizes and colours.

Some have big, puffy outer lips and tiny little inner ones that can't even be seen without spreading their legs and outer lips both... some have smallish outer lips and inner lips that stick out firmly from them or hang... some have one lip that's one shape and the other lip is completely different... some have pink, purple or dark brown inner lips... some have pale or dark outer lips... some have really big or really little clitorises.

Knowing and accepting your unique ';genital geography'; isn't something mothers usually pass along to their daughters... but it's something every woman should learn.

All of the genitalia shown at http://dodsonandross.com/gallery are perfectly normal... and It's very unlikely that yours are *not* perfectly normal, so you should get to know them well and learn to love them. They're a very important part of what it means to be *you*.

I only know of one group of guys who ever referred to a woman's vag lips of ONE particular woman as ';beef curtains'; - but then again she had a lot of sex and hers were due to a lot of rubbing and wear and tear.
    Not usually.
No they don't care. Most men like any thing that comes their way.
I'm sure they dont but I'm not a guy, so

Caring for baby with cleft lip / palate - Any tips?

One of my close friends just found out that her baby will be born with a bilateral cleft lip and perhaps palate as well.

She understands the surgical fixes, etc., but is wondering about practical day to day things such as breastfeeding, bathing, dental care when teeth start coming, etc.

Anyone with experience have some tips?Caring for baby with cleft lip / palate - Any tips?
Breastfeeding..Hmm...They really don't have suction..It's like trying to drink through a straw that has a hole in it..Not saying that it can't be done..There are moms that have..A lot pump..They do have special bottles available..Some kind of like a syringe, some you squeeze..Baths, because kiddos born with cleft have ';ear problems'; the only real difference is you have to be a little more careful about getting water in them..The eustation (sp?) tubes are usually mishapen or short, leading to ear infections..A lot of kiddos end up having tubes put in..They do tend to have gas reflux as well..They take in a lot of air so just a little more gassy..Teeth come in a little later..They also tend to have more cavities as well..My daughter was born with a unilateral cleft lip and palate..Hers actually look pretty good...She's missing a few (you can't really tell though) and has one that fills her cleft..Since she's going to have a child with a bilateral cleft, I'm not sure about the surgery schedules..Ella's were at 6 months, 12 months, she'll have another at possibly 5 years and 8 years of age if all goes as planned..Ella was just a little behind in babbling, sitting up, crawling, and walking..We're starting speech up again soon..(Her speech is delayed)..I can't think of anything else off the top of my head..Like the nurse told me, they cry, poop, and do whatever else babies do..Then again, I'm not saying it's easy..It's quite the journey..Lots of ups and down..There is A LOT of support available..It helped me so much to talk to other parents and peek at pictures..Here are a few links for ya!

Ella has a few stories on cleftline..She also has a carepage named EllaYvonne on carepages.com ..Not sure how much of a help that will be since their clefts will differ, but we do have some pics up to show her progress..My email is rmsdbq@yahoo.com if you have any other questions..Good luck and know that it's A LOT more common then you know...Caring for baby with cleft lip / palate - Any tips?
has she contacted the cleft lip and pallet association? Google it for your area/location and they will be able to advise.

Not sure about feeding apart from the fact that you can get special bottles - bathing should be no different.

Glad shes got a good friend like you to support her - might be tough at first with peoples negative reactions, but all will be ok.
depending on the severity of the cleft she may be able to breastfeed, but he may have a poor suck and need some supplementation. Until the baby comes and the degree of the cleft can be seen she will not know, rest assured she will get plenty of help from the hospital staff.
There is a woman on pregnancyweekly.com on the breastfeeding board who is successfully breastfeeding a baby with a cleft palate. I'm sure she would be happy to answer any questions in that area.

Take into account you were probably told by whoever pierced your lip to keep it clean too keep from getting infected. Not only would it sting upon contact, depending on if you use ';snuff'; or ';fine cut'; which particles of it would probably be able to enter the piercing somehow, causing discomfort and possible infection.I would let it ';heal'; a bit first. After all, do you really think they sterilize tobacco leaves? Good Luck!I dont care tht its bad to use dip, but is it bad to use dip with a peirced lip?
i would say chip dip is ok, but flea dip is NOT
well depending on how tight the piercing is the juices might run out of the hole the the pierce is.
    No.

How to care for a lip piercing?

Hey, I just got my lip done last Saturday and I'm really not sure what to do now.

My piercer told me to wash with listerine mouthwash after eating/smoking/etc and to clean the outside of the piercing with rubbing alcohol to disinfect it once a day.

However, I read in some places that you shouldn't use alcohol or mouthwash to clean because alcohol delays the healing and can make it irratated. I know that I should use a sea salt soak, but what should I do to disinfect it?

By the way, it's been four days and its STILL swollen. Is this normal? :/

Please help, %26amp; thanks. :]How to care for a lip piercing?
yep. lip piercings are prone to swelling for up to two weeks even. mine only swelled for 3 days, i was lucky. keep some ice on the inside in your mouth, that should help the swelling go down on it. but it's fine.

definately use mouthwash. there's no other way to clean the back of the piercing. listerine is fine if you have that already in your house, just go 50/50 listerine and water and it should dilute it. but don't use rubbing alcohol on the outside. you can, if you want, i highly recommend it..buy h2ocean piercing spray http://h2ocean.com it's a really good brand and it helps it heal faster also. in the mean time keep doing sea salt soaks 3-5 times a day for the first 2 weeks. then 2 times a day and if you dont get the piercing spray, mixing water and dial soap together and using a q tip to clean around the outside of the piercing is also good.

hope i helped! How to care for a lip piercing?
Never use rubbing alcohol on a piercing....it dries out the skin....instead use H2Ocean (you can find it at a piercing parlor and Hot topic) or a salt solution to clean the outside and inside of your lip piercing....now do that 2 to 3 times a day and also make sure to rinse your mouth out with water every time after you eat to prevent the food particles from getting in there while it heals. On top of that you can also use an antibacterial soap on it 1 to 2 times a day...and that will take care of it cleaning wise.

As for the swelling.....it is perfectly normal, in fact the worst part of the swelling happens two to five days after the initial piercing...so don't worry.
The routine I follow with piercings is washing it with anti-bacterial soap and water (not too strong) 2 or 3 times a day and then working triple antibiotic ointment through it. Doing that for a week or so and then dab Bactine on it with a swab everyday for a month or so. Also using mouthwash to keep your mouth cleaner is good too.
For the most part you want to use dial soap (original) to clean it every so often and there is this great product called sea salt you should use. It is a spray and it disinfects while helping the piercing heal. And yes it is okay that it is still swollen by day four. Give it about 2 weeks for the swelling to be completely gone.
Don't use the alcohol or mouthwash!!!!! Nooooooo!

When mine was done I used mouthwash with no alcohol in it. I also rinsed with salt water once in awhile.

I cleaned the outside of it with a cleaning solution I bought at the place it was done, called H20.

Whoever did your peircing knows nothing on proper aftercare. Go to a different salon and ask them if they have a soultion made to clean the outside that is alcohol free.

And please infest in a bottle of Alcohol free mouthwash and mix up some warm salt water.

These kinds kinds or percings infect easy, so be very dilgent on the care of it. Just be sure and not over wash it. Did he also let you know to turn it once in awhile with clean hands?
It will stay swoollen for about a week. this is normal with oral piercings. just stick with the salt water. that disinfects it. and u dont wanna clean it too much because your mouth has a natural way of disinfecting it and if you clean it too much it won't heal... : ) good luck
sea salt soak = your best friend.

as to disinfect it, use crest prohealth mouthwash instead.

it has no alcohol in it! :]

    it helps wonders.
4 days is perfectly normal, It is usually 4-6 days before the swelling goes down. For me it was 8. Everyone is different.

    What i did is this:

(Sure there are other ways, just saying how i did it.)

    - Rinse 2-3 times a day(after meals) with Oral B mouthwash or watered down listerine for about 1 min and after rinse again with water. So it don't dry out your mouth.

    - 2 times a day soak a Q-tip in saline(sp?) and remove all crust and ooze from the piercing and around the hole.

    - Avoid playing with it as much as possible. But some movement is good. Helps healing.

    - No kissing, drinking, smoking, touching, spicy food, too hot food or drink for 3-4 weeks.

But a general rule is use as little alcohol as possible. Alcohol is so strong it kill any cells current trying to heal it and may slow it down.
These piercings require care both inside and outside the mouth. For the inside of the mouth, rinse with salt water after eating or drinking anything but water. The outer skin of a healing piercing may appear slightly red (this is blood flowing to the area to make new tissue), and may discharge a small amount of white or yellow fluid called lymph. Lymph will dry on the outside of the piercing, and will need to be cleaned away periodically as it will harbor bacteria if neglected. Regular showering will remove this dried discharge, and during the day, use a saltwater soak to remove any buildup of discharge. Saltwater soaks are required when the piercing is dirty or has dried discharge, or to soothe the piercing in case of accidental injury or irritation. Saturate some paper towel with the saltwater, and hold it on the piercing like a compress, until the water feels cold. You may then gently clean off the area, and gently pat dry with tissue or paper towel. If soap is used on the area, an unscented or pure glycerin soap is preferable.

  • Can lip herpes under good care last only 3 days? Was it Herpes at all?

Ok, i got lip herpes last year from a friend's lipstick...i know utterly stupid. Anyway, this year, almost exactly the same date, minuscule herpes pustules showed up and i disinfected everything in the house, applied Fenivir like crazy, and whenever i had to go out i used the special patch by Compeed. Hands washed after application, drinking from straws that were discarded and so on ........ So, after 3 days the sores are gone (they went through the whole cycle, liquid, then painful then red and puss filled then the wound) and only some red spots are there that will be gone by tomorrow. Was this herpes at all? I did take more vitamins and ate better...Can lip herpes under good care last only 3 days? Was it Herpes at all?
Its part of the virus called cytomegla and there are thousands of strains and a few we humans catch such as the following:

    Chicken Pox

    Measles,

    Cox Sackie

    Herpes in mouth

    Genital Herpes

    Etc...

Your vitamins may be synthetic. See http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=鈥?/a> to see real vitamins versus rocks.

Also, your immune system can suppress these herpes. I used to get canker sores, another form of herpes.

I haven't had a canker sore or cold sore in 8 years due to the proper supplementation that supports my immune systems ability to suppress the virus. Can lip herpes under good care last only 3 days? Was it Herpes at all?
If you're having problems with fever blisters on your lips, try lysine salve and lysine capsuls, both available at health food stores. Stops them in their tracks.
    Sounds like cold sores.
    yes of course

As a smoker, how can I take the best care of my lip piercing?

I smoke several times a day and it's really not an option for me to quit right now. I recently had my lip pierced and I want to take all the steps I can to make sure I keep it from getting infected. I got it pierced on 8/13/08, and it's now two days later and I do have expected swelling. Though earlier I squeezed out a little pus from the hole. The pus was white, maybe whitish yellow. I hear that this is normal and it's actually lymph, but I'm not sure. If the piercing is already infected, what should I do to fix it without removing the piercing? As a smoker, how can I take the best care of my lip piercing?
Use a non-alcohol mouthwash after each cigarette, as you should be doing after anything other than water enters your mouth anyway. And do your sea salt soaks. It should be just fine, as long as you're diligent with your cleaning. And don't squeeze out the pus. It's normal, it'll come out on it's own at the rate it needs to. you shouldn't be touching it, especially not putting pressure on it and squeezing it. Yeah, white or slightly yellow is fine, but keep your hands off it unless they're well washed and you're cleaning the piercing. I smoked while I was healing my lip. I cut back a little, but I just made sure to clean it. didn't your piercer give you aftercare instructions? As a smoker, how can I take the best care of my lip piercing?
I have mine done and am also a smoker, I used Listerine after every smoke I had, and it seemed to take care of any infections.

What do I have to do to take care of my lip piercing? ?

At the piercing place they said just a lot of rinsing with water pretty much...What do I have to do to take care of my lip piercing? ?
rinse with listerine half diluted with water. and do sea salt soaks for the outside. do not use alcohol or peroxide to clean it. those are very bad for piercings. and please dont go back to that piercer. if he/she didnt take the time to tell you the proper aftercare then they are not a good piercer. What do I have to do to take care of my lip piercing? ?
Don't go back to that place, if they didn't even explain aftercare to you. Rinse with nonalcoholic mouth wash after every meal, and soak the outside of the piercing a few times a day with sea salt soaks (1/4 tsp sea salt to 8oz of water).
First of all keep it clean. Rinse your mouth out after you put anything in it, I would recommend Bio-tine it's alcohol free so it doesn't sting when you use it and it won't kill the bacteria your mouth needs to heal. Don't touch it too much. Gargle with salt and warm water.
Don't touch it. Use proxide 3% and yeah should take 2-4weeks healling time

Advice on how to take care of my lip piercing?

I got a vertical labret pirecing a week ago. It's difficult to keep it clean and leave it alone because it's right in the middle of my lip, and alot of stuff goes on there.

Right now, the swelling I think has gone down a bit but when I wake up there's some crusty brown stuff around my piercing, I don't know if it's dried blood or whatever. Is that normal at this point? When do you think it should stop?

I've been cleaning it with satin anti-microbial soap. Should I use saline solution instead?

I love it and I don't want it to reject. Also, if a piercing has already started to reject, can you make it stop?

Thanks!Advice on how to take care of my lip piercing?
Ok first of all start using an anti-bacterial mouthwash, use it after you eat, drink, smoke etc (where any bacteria can come in contact with it).

Then about 3 times a day soak it with semi-hot sea salt water (put one teaspoon of salt in hot water and let it cool for a minute), soak it until the cotton wool cools, then repeat until you've soaked it for 15 mins total.

I also use Savlon (it's an anti-bacterial cream for minor cuts and skin disorders) for my piercings, some people say it's not good but it's a matter of choice, it's always worked for me, for your lip piercing it might taste a bit funny but it will help, put it on the outside and move the piercing so it gets inside the hole once a day until it heals, okay it will sting but the next day you will see results!!

    Hope that helps xx

How do you take care of a lip piercing?

I got it pierced last Saturday.

and well, on the inside it's fine.

it's just on the outside, i just had puss come out of my lip..

    i've been cleaning it..

with dial soap(what they told me to use!)..

but i was told i need alcohol free mouthwash..

so i got some crest mouthwash..and have been using it..like three times a day..and letting it get on the piercing..

    but i don't think it's working..

    what should i do?

i don't wanna take out my piercing..How do you take care of a lip piercing?
puss is normal to the healing process, as long as it isnt swollen up or extremely painful. i would recommend not cleaning it as much, and MAKE SURE YOUR NOT DRINKING BEER.

if your still worried about it, call your piercer. he should look at it for free and tell you exactly what your need to do with it. or if there is anything wrong with it all.

well good luck (:How do you take care of a lip piercing?
i also have a lip piercing, the puss is normal, it's going to do that for 1-2 weeks

so any swelling or redness is normal, that just means its healing

dont OVER clean your piercings either, that can be just as dangerous as under cleaning them

the alcohol free mouth wash is good for the inside of your mouth, you can also use sea salt in warm water, and for the outside, use dial soap (they were right!)

do not use any harsh cleaners on your piercing

no alcohol, or neosporin, or even bactine

they will dry out and irritate your skin even more

the only things you piercing will ever need is

    a) dial soap

and b) sea salt diluted in warm water

    (NOT rock --%26gt; table salt)

soak your piercing in sea salt in warm water will draw out the bacteria, fight infection and speed the healing process naturally

and use the dial soap when you take your showers

so long as you keep your piercing clean, and irritation free, you should be fine

avoid picking at it, and dont touch it with dirty hands
the puss is coming from the inside (not of your mouth, the inside of your piercing)

hydrogen peroxide will disinfect it and wipe out any infection. i use it for my ears when I clean my gauges.

when you bath or shower, take the piercing out and clean the area with soap, as well as the ring.

Am i taking care of my lip piercing right?

ok so i got my lip pierced last week, an i was wondering if im taking care of it right...

this is how i take care of it-

i was the jewlery and aroung it with soap(dial)

then i use a q tip an rub it in an get the crusties off

    then i rinse with water

then i rinse with salt water an swoosh it around in my mouth

an i use a q tip to rub that in too

    then i rinse

    an im done.

so am i doing it right cause i think it might be infectedAm i taking care of my lip piercing right?
Yeah, it sounds like you're doing fine, but you can skip the Dial soap, its harsh on a new piercing. Use sea salt solution on the outside.

I doubt its infected, lip (and other oral) piercings are hard to get infected, as your mouth has natural enzymes that keep it clean.

Remember that its still healing (and will be for the next 7-10 weeks), and some redness/swelling/irritation is normal.

To help with the irritation, be sure not to touch your piercing, and certainly do not move the jewelry around. Also, keep the cleaning to a max of 2 times a day. Any more, and you're just drying it out (Yes, there is such a thing as ';over-cleaning';).Am i taking care of my lip piercing right?
I'd skip the dial, a lot of people say to use it, but it can dry out the piercing (I've never used it and never once had an infection). Also, you shouldn't be rubbing the crusties off, you should be doing sea salt soaks on the out side, and let them soak off.

Most likely, it's not infected, just irritated.

But, I need to ask, how exactly to care for it? I keep having to suck in my lip when my parents come by, or talk to me. Is that bad? Also - I have been cleaning it with this stuff my sister got from Claire's to clean her ears, just on the outside, and boiling saltwater and swishing that around. So help? How to care for a lip piercing?
First of all. STOP USING THE EAR CLEANER! that is not for your lip! What you need to do is clean the outside of it with soap and water on a q-tip 2-3 times a day. For the inside you need to be using mouthwash after everything you eat, drink (except water) or put in your mouth like smoking. Use anon name brand, something like listerin is too strong. You need to do this for about 3weeks. You shouldn't be playing around with too much either this can cause an infection. For the first 2-3 weeks you don't want to move it, piercings usually cause things called crusties and when you move the piercing the crusties can get inside and cut the tissue, and either cause an infection or make its take longer to heal. If you have any other problem you should go to a piercer and see what they have to say. Good luck. How to care for a lip piercing?
go to the docter and ask him to check out your lip
Stop biting it, your parents are going to find out sooner or later, if they dont want you to have it, take it out.

The ear solution from Claires is crap anyways, even for ears, I wouldnt recommend using it for ANYTHING.

Simple sea salt and water will do for cleansing, dont use any alcohol etc.

When you use lip gloss or lip stick, do you try to avoid kissing your boyfriend, or do you not care?

I don't wear lip gloss/ lipstick/ chapstick when I'm with my boyfriend because he can't stand the taste and the way it feels (not even the flavored ones). Many guys I know feel that way too, so ask him if he likes it, dislikes it or doesn't mind. When you use lip gloss or lip stick, do you try to avoid kissing your boyfriend, or do you not care?
I prefer lip gloss over lipstick and why avoid kissing when it can always be re-appliedWhen you use lip gloss or lip stick, do you try to avoid kissing your boyfriend, or do you not care?
well, as long as it wont come off on him....it needs to be the kind that u can kiss with and itll stay put, nothing too sticky
I gave up long ago because even the supposed 8 hour lipsticks are off my lips in under 2.
I wear make up for myself not my husband. He does not mind. If he did I'd keep wearing it if wanted to kiss he would learn to deal with it.
I don't have one but have had like 3. But there is no need to avoid kissing your boyfriend if can be re applied.
    I don't have a boyfriend, but I don't think I would care.
i dont care, and he doesnt either
I don't really care but sometimes when I know I'm going to kiss him, I put some flavoured lipbalm on that he likes. Hehe.
    I wouldn't care, I usually don't. I only use chapstick anyway.
Depending whether I don't feel like reapplying. Otherwise, I don't mind.
    i dont care.

sometimes my boyfriend is like EW LIP GLOSS but then just keeps kissing me, so im guessing it doesnt bother him either.
i used to avoid it, but he didn't like me not kissing him...so now i do, and he likes it.
Well I don't really care. But I'm pretty sure hes not too fond of it.
i use just enough to give me some shimmer, but not enough that is becomes and issue when it comes to kissing

if your looking for some good stuff look at the burt's bees lip shimmer..smells and looks good and its not nasty if u get any in your mouth while ur kissing
Usually lip stick wont be too bif of a deal, however lip gloss is a different case. My boyfriend never liked my lipgloss, but I love lipgloss and it's not that big of a deal, so I always continued to wear it. However, if I were about to kiss him, I would just lick my lips so as to get some of it off so theres not too much on...then afterwards, you laugh when he has shiny lips.

I'm going to pierce my lip myself (my friend is doing it for me) what do i have to do to care for it?

Unless your friend has proper autoclaved equipment, a sterilized environemnt, research on how to do this properly, and body piercing training, then i wouldnt suggest your friend doing it.

But have fun.I'm going to pierce my lip myself (my friend is doing it for me) what do i have to do to care for it?
iceI'm going to pierce my lip myself (my friend is doing it for me) what do i have to do to care for it?
    Buy an autoclave.

At least then everything will be sterile.

if you don't have an autoclave the chance of an infection is very high.

    And a clamps.

Then it wont be extremely crooked.

Do two sea salt soaks a day for the outside, and use mouthwash without alcohol in it for the inside after you eat or smoke (if you smoke).

I want to get my lip pierced and i dont know if it hurt does it how should i take care of it?

It will hurt, you're getting a needle shoved through your lip! If you get it done at a reputable piercing place, they should give you a lot of information on caring for it and maybe sea salt, which you put in warm water and hold over the piercing to keep it clean. My brother had it done and he never had issues with it, but he was good about keeping it clean. The piercer should tell you all about how to care for it.

  • How to take care of my chapped lips?

For the past few days, I've been applying lip gloss to my chapped lips and for some weird reason, they won't go away. Any ideas?

FOR THE RECORD: I went fishing with my dad last Saturday and my face was lightly sunburned. How to take care of my chapped lips?
Dehydration, drink lots of water....How to take care of my chapped lips?
Lip gloss doesn't really help chapped lips, especially if you use a cheaper kind with no SPF. (Most of them don't have SPF)

Here's a trick to keep your lips soft and still looking cute.

Apply lip balm to your bare lips, then lip color, and last lip gloss.

You may not use lip color, or it may be in your lip gloss, so the second step isn't neccesary. But always put lip balm on before anything else.

If your lips are ';flaky'; and it is bothering you, then you can take a toothbrush and gently scrub them with warm water. It sounds wierd but it really works. Try and use a toothbrush designed for children or babies because the bristles are softer and more gentle on your lips.

Apply lip balm before you go to sleep, when you wake up, and during the day.....

In a few weeks your lips should be soft and kissable.

    Hope this helps. =)
There is a product sold called Chap Stick. It should help you.
Get a lip balm called CARMEX it's medicated and works wonders on chapped lips. It comes in a small white jar with a yellow lid. Most pharmacies carry it.

For the future, get yourself a chapstick with SPF to protect your lips from the sun. If you forget, you can always put normal sunblock on them when you put it on the rest of your face.
gloss is not going to work cause that is cosmetic you need somethign that is medicated.... I shovled snow for like 3 days and had very bad chapped lips and around the lips too I used Blistex Silk and Shine with spf 15 and it worked wonders in like 3 to 4 days. Its about $2 or $3 + but is worth it! It also isn't like a chapstick it is not waxy it is alot smoother!

Blistex also has tons of different kinds check out the web page below!
That happened to me, in the past when we went deep ocean fishing. You got sunburned including your lips. All you do now is drink lots of water.and put a little vaseline jelly, which is indicated for sunburns.
i hear u! I use lip rescuewith sea butter.i love it i sea improve ment right a way use it to believe it.
go by some chap stick from the store
for really chapped lips, chap stick doesn't really seem to work for me, but carmex or any type of salve with medication in it, applying as often as needed seems to work over a short period of time.
    lip balm
Burt's Bees Raspberry Lip Balm is great!
I had a similar problem once, and the only solution i found, and WORKED, was to add vaseline to them and drink a lot of water. You might be dehydrated and the skin on the lips is very sensitive (hence why kissing is so good). Go with the vaseline, and water, you'll be just fine.
Well, if they're sunburned, then the burn has to heal. Oil, grease, and the stuff in lip gloss and chapstick won't help. Try some plain lanolin without alcohol or some solarcain (tastes horrible, but helps.)
If vasseline doesnt help, make sure you are drinking at least 8 glasses of water per day. Dehydration can make your lips chapped
    chap sticks and vaseline works.
lip gloss is a superficial application...you're dehydrated. drink lots of water and dont lick your lips.
Get a chapstick with SPF in it.

It'll help protect you in the future.
    Hi

What you need to help you honey and give you the same glossy affect is vaseline, just apply over your lipstick or on to natural lips and they will shine and stay moist and soft, and you can apply as many times as you want. Hope this helps xxxxxx

How do u take care of ';Acute Laceration to the Lip';..?

How do i take care of a cold sore on my lip?

After getting four cold sores around Xmas, I started taking a vitamin called Lysine at the suggestion of a friend whose doctor recommended it when he had a shingles outbreak.

I haven't had a cold sore since. So if you are prone to the cold sores, I suggest taking the Lysine.

Otherwise, I would stay away from Carmex or any other petroleum product as they smother the cold sore, keeping it moist so they don't allow it to dry out.

Campho-p always has worked well for me. Better than Relev or Abreva.

Good Luck. How do i take care of a cold sore on my lip?
A cold sore on your lip is called Herpes Simplex and it's the same type of virus that causes genital herpes and is just as contagious. There a lots of antiviral meds on the market now but they all need a prescription from your doc or dentist. Nothing over the counter will work against virus'. There are also ways to prevent cold sores. If you know the feeling you get before you break out, like itching and tingling you can take the anti-viral asap and lots of times it won't come out or if it does it will be very mild. Good luck! How do i take care of a cold sore on my lip?
Cold sore or ';fever'; blister is caused by Herpes Simplex virus (not the genital type). You need to be careful not to spread this to other people

Home therapy: rub with ice when you first feel ';tingling';, Zilactin (over the counter) topical medication, take Lysine.

Go to your dentist and ask about Zovirax or Denavir ointment prescription.
You really have to try to treat them before they break out - when they tingle. I use a comination of Abreva %26amp; Zilactin. Abreva stops the growth of the sore, and Zilactin helps with the pain. This combo was recommended by my pharmacist and has been very successful - I have one right now, actually due to a cold. They rarely get any larger than a small pimple.
If it's already ';bloomed'; then all you can do is help it heal, and Abreva (over the counter) is good for that.

Talk to your doctor and get a prescrip of anti-viral drug to have on hand next time you feel one ';blooming'; and you can cut it off at the pass by starting the meds at the first sign of a break out.
    Aww, you poor thing.

    Thoes SUCK!

They hurt so baddd, especially when you eat hott stuff..

But there's nothing really to cure it = [

Unfortunately ...But maybe to make it feel better.

Try holding some ice wrapped in cloth on the sore. It also might help to eat a popsicle.

    I'm sorry I'm no big help =[
i get cold sores all the time, i find abreva works best it is about 16 dollars , if you have a costco card it is 20 for 2 tubes
I use baking soda, it burns, but they go away pretty quickly. Either that or get some medication, they go away in a few weeks.
Cold sore medication helps - but a natural remedy is black licorice.. It'll help it heal and prevent it as well! You can buy it in liquid form at a natural foods store, hope this helped!
make a paste of extra virgin olive oil and baking soda and put it on just before ya go to bed! and dont lick it in your sleep!
Try(abreava)It really took care of my cold sore. It starts to disappear in about 24 hours after the 1st use of this product. Sorry if I mis spelled it! :)
You go to the doctor for herpes..jk

    Go to the pharmacy
use alum its a seasoning that you just have to rub on.
I'd try Carmex or Blistex. If it doesn't go away soon, see a doctor.
    cold sore medicine :)
    carmex lip ointment
sounds like you have stage of herpes...go to the doctor
rub some soy suace on it works every time
My suggestion would be to put carmex on it

Caring for baby with cleft lip / palate - Any tips?

One of my close friends just found out that her baby will be born with a bilateral cleft lip and perhaps palate as well.

She understands the surgical fixes, etc., but is wondering about practical day to day things such as breastfeeding, bathing, dental care when teeth start coming, etc.

Anyone with experience have some tips?Caring for baby with cleft lip / palate - Any tips?
Breastfeeding..Hmm...They really don't have suction..It's like trying to drink through a straw that has a hole in it..Not saying that it can't be done..There are moms that have..A lot pump..They do have special bottles available..Some kind of like a syringe, some you squeeze..Baths, because kiddos born with cleft have ';ear problems'; the only real difference is you have to be a little more careful about getting water in them..The eustation (sp?) tubes are usually mishapen or short, leading to ear infections..A lot of kiddos end up having tubes put in..They do tend to have gas reflux as well..They take in a lot of air so just a little more gassy..Teeth come in a little later..They also tend to have more cavities as well..My daughter was born with a unilateral cleft lip and palate..Hers actually look pretty good...She's missing a few (you can't really tell though) and has one that fills her cleft..Since she's going to have a child with a bilateral cleft, I'm not sure about the surgery schedules..Ella's were at 6 months, 12 months, she'll have another at possibly 5 years and 8 years of age if all goes as planned..Ella was just a little behind in babbling, sitting up, crawling, and walking..We're starting speech up again soon..(Her speech is delayed)..I can't think of anything else off the top of my head..Like the nurse told me, they cry, poop, and do whatever else babies do..Then again, I'm not saying it's easy..It's quite the journey..Lots of ups and down..There is A LOT of support available..It helped me so much to talk to other parents and peek at pictures..Here are a few links for ya!

has she contacted the cleft lip and pallet association?

    Tips for winter skin care

    1. Though most of the people believe that since it is winter the sun would be very mild but on the contrary during this period sun is most brutal. So, continue using your sunscreen lotion with a better SPF, generally SPF 15 would do. A better and convenient suggestion is to use foundation or moisturizer with an in-built sunscreen everyday.

    2. During winter, your skin is already low on necessary oil and if you use soap the condition gets worsen. So, avoid using soap and instead use a mild soap-less hydrating cleanser. Moreover, you may not feel like drinking water every now and then like summers but to keep your skin hydrated, make sure that you drink, if not a lot of water, at least 64 ounces of water.

    3. During the flu and cold season, frequent and regular hand washing is very much required, but do remember one thing that this might even lead to your hand being dry and eventually formation of cracks and splits. Anti-bacterial liquid soap could be harsh on your hands, so it is recommended that you should use a mild cleanser which moisturizes as it cleanse. Despite following the above suggestion if dry patches do occur, use an anti-itch lotion and apply it gently over the dry patches.

    4. Lips are also the most important part of your face and your winter skin care steps should also include this. If you have super supple lips, make sure that you exfoliate them on a regular basis or once-in-a-while. Take a soft tooth brush, dip it in warm water and without using toothpaste gently brush your lips. Follow this tip with a soothing and quality lip balm. Besides, ensure that whatever lip gloss you use, it should have moisturizing features.

    5. Wear gloves and other protective covering before you go out in the cold and before you tuck your hands inside your mittens or gloves apply some sort of hand lotions. For your foot protection, wear socks and slather some thick foot cream on it.

The above steps for winter skin care would definitely lessen, if not all up to a certain extent, the problem that you might face in the upcoming winter; provided you follow it properly.

Following is a list of must-have items for your beach bag this summer:

    1. Water resistant sunscreen

A water resistant sunscreen with SPF 15 or higher will help protect your skin from harmful UV rays. Sunscreens should be applied to dry skin at least 15 minutes before going outdoors and should be reapplied after swimming or perspiring. Typically, one ounce of sunscreen lotion is enough to cover exposed areas of the body properly.

    2. Medicated lip balm with SPF

For lips, the best protection against sun damage is a water resistant lip balm that keeps the lips moist and has an SPF of 15 percent or higher.

A product such as Zilactin-Lip medicated lip balm provides SPF 24 protection and is water resistant for long-lasting wear in the sun. Zilactin-Lip medicated lip balm also contains a non-greasy emollient to keep lips smooth and supple.

    3. Wide-brimmed hat -- Aside from providing shade for your face, a wide-brimmed hat also can help protect hair from being damaged by the sun, which erodes the outer layer of hair and can cause coarse, wiry or brittle locks. Choose a comfortable-fitting hat with extra covering that drapes down the back of your neck, and sit in the shade whenever possible.

    4. Spray-on sunscreen for hair -- Another way to protect the hair from sun damage is to use protective sprays specifically created for hair. Leave-in conditioners and sun sprays offer sun protection before, during and after outdoor exposure.

    5. Cold sore/fever blister treatment -- Since cold sores/fever blisters can be triggered by overexposure to the sun, it is important to keep topical medications on hand for unexpected breakouts. A product such as Zilactin Cold Sore Gel helps speed up the healing process for fever blisters by sealing in the medication and preventing spreading. Zilactin-L Cold Sore Liquid is another option for treating cold sore/fever blister outbreaks.

Don't let the sun ruin your summer vacation. Stock up on these vital summer products at your local drug, discount and grocery stores, or consult a family physician for additional advice.
I use Chapstick. Except the problem with Chapstick is that you have to keep reapplying it if your lips keep drying up. For dry lips, I recommend using lip balm. Carmex is very effective and also Burt's Bees.

  • My boyfriend got lip piercings (snakebites) today and we wanted to know how he can take good care of them?

Does Lindsay Lohan hold the secret to health care reform on her luscious lips?

I believe that Lindsay Lohan's sweet candy kisses hold healing properties that can cure all genetic and contagious diseases and disorders.

Why doesn't Barack Obama commission scientists to research the power of Lindsay Lohan's kisses?Does Lindsay Lohan hold the secret to health care reform on her luscious lips?
I don't know. I've never seen her nude from the waist down.Does Lindsay Lohan hold the secret to health care reform on her luscious lips?
LMAO! Dude, Lindsay Lohan's lips are probably home to many diseases contracted from Sam Ronson's vagina. I certainly don't call that a secret to health care reform, but more like an end to health care reform.
Thanks for the 2 points, %26amp; i guess you should hope this doesnt get reported for being so stupid..

Lindsay Lohans lips probably hold a few diseases..
Lindsay Lohan is hideous. I thought only Obama supporters found her attractive?
Because Barack Obama is an adult unlike you
At least the study would be cheaper then anything else Obama has done.
Stars are entertainers therefore I only use them to make profit.
I always give a shout-out to the stupidest question of the day. Congrats.
mmmmmm that and much much more.
Yeah right, I don't know where those lips have been.
I don't think kissing her would be a good idea.

GUYS, do you care if girls don't wax their eyebrows and upper lip?(read detail)?

im 13 and im going to be in high school

my parents won't let me do my eyebrows any my upper lip.

my parents only let me pluck the bottom part of my

eyebrow but not the whole thing so i dont have a good shape.

and my parents dont let me wax my upper lip too

it noticeable when you get up close and not really

noticeable when your not up close.GUYS, do you care if girls don't wax their eyebrows and upper lip?(read detail)?
Of course they care! Who the hell wants to see a mustache on a little girl?? Shave that bad boy (just steal your dad's razor)GUYS, do you care if girls don't wax their eyebrows and upper lip?(read detail)?
YOUR 13 AND YOUR GOING TO HIGH SCHOOL!?????

im turning 13 and im going to middle school wtffff

    and yea just pluck them==]]
Pluck it but DON'T EVER shave it because it grows back twice as thick and darker!!
    it would look bad
DO NOT SHAVE ANYWHERE ON YOUR FACE! it will grow back like a dude! but if they wont let you wax try talking them into letting you bleach your upper lip!
Plucking is better. Once you start going to beauty parlour then it will never end. So delay it as much as you can. You can also pluck them making god shape but don't make it thin.

For upper lip you can bleach. Its fine.

And also never ever shave. It makes hair grow thicker and make skin dark.
shaping ur eyebrows or waxing ur upper lip is not bad and yes people do observe and comment on that.just try explaining that to ur parents.but after getting them done dont consider ur self as an adult. as a girl u should know ur boundries(regarding boyfriends).most of the times parents are afraid of that and dont let their girls do all this stuff
Eyebrows no, but upper lips yes

    Lip piercing after care??

What can be used to clean a pierced lip? I can't buy anything anytime soon, and all I have is hydrogen peroxide, neosporin (I heard not to use that), old ear piercing aftercare stuff from wal mart, Dial, mouthwash, and that's like it. Any suggestions? Thanx.Lip piercing after care??
You can use Neosporin. Not the peroxide though, that including anything with alcohol in it will dry out your piercing.

Wash your hands first then your piercing twice a day with Dial and very warm water. It's easier to do in the shower, where the steam will help to loosen crust on your piercing. After meals and snacks use alcohol free mouthwash to get rid of food that may stick to the piercing.

Do this for about 6 or so weeks, then reduce this routine down to once a day. Overcleaning will hurt it more then help it to heal.

Do salt soaks once a day. Place 1/8 teaspoon of sea salt in a disposable cup of warm water. Place cup over the piercing or take a cotton ball and place it on the peircing for about 10 minutes.Lip piercing after care??
Yeah watch out for the alcohol mouthwash.

And also if you have a piercing retainer i suggest you keep that in when you sleep .
Make sure the mouth wash is alcohol free, and use dial on the outside of the piercing.

  • Questions about post-care for lip piercing?

    Ok a few questions:

    1) My piercer gave me a pamphlet that said not to turn or rotate jewelry, that it would prolong the healing process, but why? I was always told to make sure to turn my earrings when I got them pierced.

    2) Sometimes I play with it, as in I'll catch it on the back of my teeth, and kinda give it a little tug, not enough to really hurt too much, but just a tiny thing. Is this bad for it?

    3) The pamphlet also said to wash it outside twice a day with a fragrance-free antibacterial soap. Is washing it more than twice unhealthy (cuz I read something somewhere about helpful bacteria)?

    4) Any products I can use to clean/disinfect it outside because it has been 1 week and there is still inflammation and some pain?? What should I do about that too?

Please also state how you know these answers (i.e. it worked for you, or you are a piercer, etc.) Thanks so much!Questions about post-care for lip piercing?
    1) I have also always been told to turn my piercings. But ONLY after I had cleaned them very well, never before. I guess they tell you not to turn them now because they think that if you turn them before you clean them you can force bacteria into your ear, or get crusties inside it. %26gt;%26lt;

    2) I did this as well when I got my labret pierced and it turned out just fine.

    3) Yes it is not good to clean it more than twice a day. It will dry out and irritate your piercing, and not aid any in healing.

    4) You can also do sea salt soaks if you like. If you want pre-mixed stuff I would say check out H2ocean.

To help with the pain you can take some ibprofin if you like.

How to take care of lip and belly button piercings?

Last night I got both my lip and belly button pierced at a friends house. It was done by a professional piercer but since we were at a friends he didnt really have time to describe the healing process. Dont get me wrong the piercings turned out fine he did a good job i watched him sterilize everything.

I just want to know how to take care of the new piercings I got. I've heard about sea salt mixed with warm water and putting it on the inside and outside of my mouth. And also on my belly button? Any tips anyone has would be great (:How to take care of lip and belly button piercings?
clean it in the shower use a saline solution ( salt water) soak and use a cotton bud to clean around it also a antibac gel before toutching it and mouth wash

good luckHow to take care of lip and belly button piercings?
i have two lip peircings, one i didnt take care of and it hurts alot, i dont think its healed right and its been almost a year, but watch what you put in your mouth, obviously hot foods will sting your peircing and get H2Ocean, works awasooommeee:]

Brush your teeth whenever you can, and they say dont use listerine, but use it, it sterillizes it and makes your mouth smell clean.

it barely stings. but thats how i took care of my first one, and its perfectly healed. the second one, i didnt do most of this stuff and its horribly healed, so trust me on this one.
Alcohol with no mouthwash in it for the inside of the lip and either antibacterial soap or sea salt soaks ( 1/4 teaspoon sea salt and 8 ounces warm water) Do not use Bactine that is bad advice. Bactine doesn't even recommend that you use it for piercings. You rinse your mouth out every time you eat drink or smoke. It takes 6 week to heal don't take it out before then.
Congrats! I don't have my lip done but I got my belly button done 3 years ago. Belly buttons get infected REALLY easily, so don't change the ring for at least 6 months (i know its hard to wait but if you change it early, it will get infected). Get little cups, sea salt and water to put on your belly button (hold the cup while you lay on your bed for 5-10 min). And by bactine spray, and use that morning an night (I did the sea salt at night only). oh and the guy who pierced me said dont use anything like neosporin or healing things because it messes it up, bactine is just an antiseptic. good luck!
    ?
    mouthwash for lip

had (snake bites and a monroe)

    it works good.

    sea salt for bely button
I wouldn't do the salt mix for the lip because it could burn. Get an alcoholic free mouth wash and use that after every time you eat. I use something called bactine for the outside of my lip piercing. Sorry I don't know anything about the belly piercing.
    duno anythin about lip,

but for the belly button in the shower wash it with a antibacterial hand soap like detol.

or you could use salt water and

if your keen like me to use metholayted spirts.
    just use a disinfectant

    .
Sea salt and warm water are the best way to heal any new piercing, just as you've heard. You can also purchase a pre made product called H2Ocean which is found at piercing places, and you can carry that with you to work or school.

If you choose to make your sea salt solution at home, the proportions are really important because you don't want to dry your piercing out: 8 ounces of warm water to 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt. Make sure all your measuring devices etc are clean. Invert a container of warm sea salt solution over your belly button and just let it soak for 15 or 20 minutes while you drink a cup of coffee or something.

You can use a clean paper towel to soak the outside of your new facial piercing in the same manner.

For the inside of your mouth piercing, get an alcohol FREE mouthwash to rinse your mouth a couple of times a day. Alcohol based products dry out the healing skin cells and make the healing time LONGER, so never use them on any piercing.

The premade H2Ocean spray can be used 4-6 times daily; sea salt soaks I'd do at least once a day...twice if you have time.

The facial piercing will heal much faster than the belly button. Don't change out the jewelry in your navel for at LEAST 6 months; wait 6 weeks or so on the lip piercing, but I'd go to a piercing studio to have them check it for proper healing before you change it.

    Care of lip piercings?

so i'm thinking about getting one.

but i want to know about the care.

i've read about the care of them during the healing process, but do you do that even after it has healed completely? or do you just do it during the healing process?

    thanks

and i've heard some people have said it's hurt, some people said the opposite, so i get that :]

and the healing, it takes a different amount of time for different people..makes sense

i also was wondering if any of you awesome people have any suggestions as to persuade my parents to let me get a lip piercing

they probably won't anyways cause they are pretty strict about those kind of things, but maybe i could just make them think about it somehow?

    thanks!!!

    Care of lip piercings?
I don't know how old you are, but any reputable piercing shop won't do a facial piercing on anyone under 16. With that said, the healing process generally involves warm water mixed with sea salt 2-4 times a day. Gargle it, and get it on a paper towel and clean the outer hole. After it's healed (yeah, different for everybody), you don't HAVE to do anything to it, but it's smart to clean it 1-2 times a week just to make sure it doesn't reject later. On a scale of 1-10, I'd say a lip piercing was a 4-5, but it's different for everyone.

I was 14 when I tried to get my first piercing and my Mom said no until I was 15. She finally agreed to go to the piercing studio with me and just talked to all the piercers and learned as much as she could. I'd say the best way is to be honest with your parents about WHY you want the piercing, and present them with a loooooooooooot of information. Chances are your parents don't care so much about how it looks, but that you're ';putting a hole in your face.'; She eventually said yes and I got my first piercing on my 16th birthday. Still got it!Care of lip piercings?
my lip piercing still has not healed completely and i don't clean it every single day or anything, and it doesn't hurt, well mine didn't.. it depends on your pain tolerance but its nothing you can't bare, and i don't know what you could say to your parents to let you have one, how old are you btw?
think about what ur doing first, what kind of job do u want when u get older? do u want to be a Business tycoon? u cant be one if u have that piercing. i would not hire u to moe my lawn if u have piercings like that... think about what ur doing first..ok

every little thing that needs to be done so i dont get an infection and give me a picture of yours if u can pleaseHow to take care of a lip pirecing?
Sea salt soaks a couple times a day works great. I used H2Ocean spray which was really easy. Antibacterial soap is also good to use to clean it. You can also use alcohol free mouthwash for the inside. Don't play with it a lot and don't change it on your own until it's fully healed which takes about a month or two. It is by far my favorite piercing and was so easy to heal. I can show you a pic if you IM me or something and I could show you one with my retainer I use for work and other events where I can't have it.How to take care of a lip pirecing?
When you go to get it done the piercer should give you a list, and tell you how to take care of it and for how long. But be sure to buy some kind of sterile sea salt solution such as H2Ocean it works great ( ask your piercer if they have any you could buy) it has lysozyme which helps it heal faster. And thats for the outside just use a Q-tip. Then for the inside swish about 8 oz of salt water 3 times a day. Don't use mouthwash for a few weeks because its kills the new forming skin cells. Don't drink anything through a straw for a few weeks or you will get dry socket. And avoid anything oral. (kissing, etc.)

Your piercing will ooze lymph its gross but its normal. Just be sure its not a greenish color, that could mean its infected.
    well, its actually simple.

you just have to brush your teeth and use mouth wash after EVERY thing you eat or drink and keep from smoking if you do at least until it heals. and dont put neosporin on the outside to clean it just use hydrogen peroxide or H2O you can buy it at hot topic.

oh and keep from touching it is a VERY important thing! because if you fiddle with it or move it around nd just plain play with it, it wont heal correctly and it will bleed because your lip is trying to heal around it and youll be messing up the healing process! so be careful and make sure you wash your hands before cleaning it:]

ive had mine for a year now and its been doing great and i havent gotten one infection:]

do SEA SALT soaks like that ^ person said and if you wash it when u wash ur face in the morning and night. don't wash it too much or u'll irritate it.

p.s. i'm getting another one on the other side to make snakebites!!
The piercer will tell you how to take care of it and most give you an aftercare sheet as well. Basically all you need to do is clean it a few times a day with sea salt and water solution. Not normal table salt, SEA salt.
Wash your mouth with mouth wash frequently for a few weeks. Because the piercing is located around the mouth, there is little you can do to clean it. Just try to keep your mouth area as clean as possible.
Easy don't get one, but if u do the artist will tell u what to do to take care of it.

How do you take care of a lip piercing?

I just got my lip pierced 3 weeks ago, so i know this pretty well haha.

For the first 3 days, i took a pain reliever/fever reducer to reduce swelling (specifically i took Aleve) every 12 hours to keep the swelling down, but you will swell a little anyway, thats why they give you a bigger bar. I slept with my head propped up a little for the first few nights too, just to prevent extra blood rushing to my head.

As well, i bought a bottle of Bactine, a small bottle of scope mouthwash, and a tube of neosporin. Once in the morning, and once at night i pushed the bar outwards so it stuck out more than usual (with very clean hands of course) and sprayed a tissue and cleaned the outside of my piercing with bactine and then lightly coated the outside with neosporin.

Also, after every meal i rinsed my mouth out with the mouth wash, but you shouldn't do that too often because most mouthwashes contain alcohol, which, as well as cleaning and disinfecting, also kills cells and believe me you do not want the cells around newly pierced skin dying.

After about 7-10 days on average the swelling should go down completely and you should go back to your piercer to get a bar that is more fitting to your now not-swollen face.

And thats pretty much it, other than leave the piercing in for 3 weeks before changing to a new bar, to make sure it is healed enough to handle it.

Good Luck :)How do you take care of a lip piercing?
Lip piercings are super easy to take care of as long as you have the right stuff.

In the morning yout lip might be a bit swollen so mix about hald paroxide with water and gargle for 30 seconds, then wipe the outside with the same mixture. after you brush your teeth use mouthwash.

After eating, brush and use mouthwash.

Before bed, do the same thing you did in the morning

At least once a day put a very very small amount of no cented moisturiser (vasalien works best) around the outside of the piercing. This stops it from getting to dry

GOOD LUCK ! :)How do you take care of a lip piercing?

Sea salt soaks for the outside, mouthwash without alcohol in it for the inside after you eat and smoke (if you smoke).I just had my lip pierce ...what after care treatment should I use?
salt water, and i found this stuff called H2Ocean, and it worked great tooI just had my lip pierce ...what after care treatment should I use?
Rinse mouth 4-5 times daily with cleaning solution for 30-60 seconds after meals and at bedtime during the entire healing period. If you over clean, it may cause discoloration or irritation of tongue.
They should have told you all of this at the piercing place.

Water and salt, rinse it twice a day.

  • How do u take care of ';Acute Laceration to the Lip';..?

i got kicked in the mouth in my soccer game and got cut. the doctor at the hospital said i dont need stitches and he just cleaned it.. so how do i take care of this and how and when will it heal?..How do u take care of ';Acute Laceration to the Lip';..?
mucosa heal very very fast, compared to skin.

the laceration inside the mouth will close in about 1 day. in 1 week it will be fully healed.

you just need to keep it clean (rince with a cup of water with 1 tsp salt in it)

other than that there should be no problem.

Better ways to take care of my new lip pericing??

i posted something about my new lip pericing last night, because it bleeds when i clean it, but I was also wondering if there is any other ways, other then what the peircer told me to take care of it.

    he told me to:

1)EVERYTIME I eat, or drink anything but water, use mouth wash.

2)Wnen i use the bathroom, wash the outside of my lip with dial soap.

but I have also been putting peroxide on it once in a while, and like 1-2 times a day, i have been using neosporen on the outside. (moms a nyurse and told me to)

but the bleeding happens when i was a q-tip to wipe off the yellowish goo crap. (normal) its not enough blood to where its dripping down my chin or anything, but there is enought to see it.

any other ways to keep it clean and stop infections, or to keep it from bleeding??

    ALSO!!

The ring has been coming out, and tha ball has came unscrewed about 4 times today alone, but the guy told me to keep THIS ring untill it heals. But im thinking I should change it. Just bc it keeps falling out.(compleatly) adn i bite it a lot when i eat, so i am thinking a loop would be better.

should i?!Better ways to take care of my new lip pericing??
okay i have my tongue pierced and i had the same problems.

just whenever you eat use mouthwash but you dont have to wash it with dial soap.that actually makes it worse.just make sure to keep it moderately clean.the mouth actually gets rid of its own germs better if you dont clean it super often.as for changing the ring,,go ahead and change it.i changed my tongue ring the same day i got it and nothing happened.my boyfriend pierced his own lip and nothing went wrong and he never cleans it.youll be fine just do whatever you think is right.you know your body better than anyone else does.Better ways to take care of my new lip pericing??
go back to the place and tell the guy to put the ring on it securely, and ask him for ways to keep it clean.
I would change it to a loop. It's easier to handle. Just make sure it doesnt close up.
wow thats crazy. all that work for a lil lip ring.

i think you should also get the loop.

    Lip piercing after care?

Im 14 I finaly convienced my mother to get my lip pierced,Im getting snakebites, but what do I use to care fot it after wards?

Some people say to use a certain type of mouthwash that can esily be bought in a store,if so what kind. And iv been told to just mix sea salt and water.

Which of these do you most recomend?Any other way?Lip piercing after care?
I'd say salt water, mouthwash would probably irritate it.

Your piercer should tell you how to care for it anywayLip piercing after care?
Rinse your mouth with corsodyl, corsodyl is antibacterial

and clean the wounds with water and salt (use water that's been boiled because its sterile) and any salt will do. I used ordinary table salt for my piercings

then after a few weeks switch to witch hazel (I swear by the stuff)

clean the piercings and rinse 3 times a day, morning, noon and night

though you may want to rinse after you eat as well
i have the middle of my lip pierced and after i got it done i used saline (contact) solution to clean the outside with a q-tip

after i ate or smoked i washed it out with regular mouthwash

never had any problems with it and it healed perfectly :D
for the piercing to heal fast, the greatest is to but some NATURAL sea salt and mix it with water and do like ';mouth wash'; with it....also with the listerine and stuff....

Why should people care if you you have facial hair on your upper lip?

people just make me feel badWhy should people care if you you have facial hair on your upper lip?
because it looks a bit manly? that's what i think.

if you feel a bit insecure, then you should try waxing it or plucking it.Why should people care if you you have facial hair on your upper lip?
People care if you have facial hair for the same reason they care if your legs are shaved. People have gotten used to women shaving their legs, and now they think that if you don't, you look bad. It's just that, in their opinion, it makes you look less attractive. If it doesn't bother you, don't change it. If it does, then wax it off. Best of luck to you!
According to men, facial hair on a woman is not attractive. Facial hair is what men should have, not women. We are supposed to be crisp and clean and shaved. Men are shallow. I know it's annoying.

When I was younger I used to get made fun of because of my thick bushy eyebrows and hair on my arms. Once I was allowed to shave my legs and tweeze my eyebrows ect., I made sure all my unwated hair was gone and that included facial hair. I used to use bleach to make my unwanted facial hair less visible but honestly, I let the bleach go and I use a regular razor to remove hair from my upper lip and even little hairs on the chin. Many women deal with all this hair! But it does look better when it's removed.
Because women are always suppose to look their best and people thing facial hair is manly. Just get your hair waxed, bleach it, or get it threaded off.
i dunno. but i have a lil peach fuzz on my face. and my friend pointed it out in the middle of a real deep conversation. and i just stopped and was like';wow i dont even wanna talk, u made me feel real ugly'; i was so like hype about the convo and she said that i was like ill. i feel like shaving.lol
    Because it looks gross.

If you feel that bad, wax or shave it. or you can bleach it. (you can get bleach at almost any store.Like walmart)
because its kinda grody., but ya, maybe if it bothers you that bad, you could use a dilapitorie!
Well it doesnt look that good.

Maybe you should get it waxed
People are like that. Its just how life is..
people shouldnt, but they do. if i were you i would get a wax it will spare you embaressment

I just got my lip pierced about 4 hours ago? After care?

I got instructions but I cant exactly understand them. What do you do after your done eating?I just got my lip pierced about 4 hours ago? After care?
wash your mouth with non-alcoholic mouth wash.if you dont have any, use 1/2 normal mouthwash 1/2 water.

thats really all there is to itI just got my lip pierced about 4 hours ago? After care?
When you've finished eating, you'll need to rinse your mouth out with a good mouthwash. After care instructions differ from person to person; they tell you not to use a mouthwash with alcohol in it, but I used Listerine and my piercing is just fine.

If the food you had was particularly greasy, you should probably give the ring a cleaning with anti-bacterial soap as well and run it through the hole to make sure that no grease gets dragged inside of it when it turns. Even if you've gone out to eat, you can stop in the washroom to give it a rinse, at the very least.

    Take care. x
Swish a rinse cup's worth of 50/50 alcohol-free mouthwash and tap water for 30 seconds after meals. Do a rinse cup of tap water and a table spoon of salt mixed together when you wake up and before bed until it's healed. Straight mouth wash isn't recommended for the first week or so, but after that, you can stop doing your 50/50 and go with straight mouthwash if you like, as long as it doesn't irritate you. You should also swab-clean the outside of your piercing with salt water, or, if your piercer gave you some sort of ointment, use that. Don't rush out and buy anything else; you shouldn't need it.

If you're still confused after getting your answers, call up your piercer and have them go into every detail, and write it down as they do so. Repeat back their instructions in your own words to make sure you're understanding correctly. Your piercer will not be annoyed; this is their job. Their customers are their best advertisement; so they want to be sure that you're 100% satisfied after healing so you'll pass their name along. They'll appreciate the fact that you're serious about your piercing and just as concerned as they are that it heal perfectly. All too many times clients don't take care of their piercings the way they should and the piercers end up assuming the blame.
Rinse your mouth out with mouthwash after you eat and drink anything that isn't water. Also, you could put some triple antibiotic ointment/neosporin for the outside. Also, you can get some gly-oxide from wal-mat or a drug store. It is for the inside. You can take ibuprofin or eat some ice to help the swelling.
Well, I imagine it's the same as a tongue piercing, so you rinse your mouth out with a sea salt solution or an alcohol free mouthwash such as Tom's of Maine.
After you are done eating just rinse your mouth out with mouth wash.
mouthwash then drink alittle bit of water. Goodluck with it.

    Lip piercing after care?

i have mouthwash and rubbing alcohol and the stuff they give you when you get your ears pierced.

what should i use?Lip piercing after care?
Do NOT use alcohol. Big no no.

And mouth wash don't do much for the outside of your piercing.

Use warm water(use a kettle and boil it) with seasalts.Lip piercing after care?
    well first:

you should not use rubbing alcohol when it comes that close to it being in your mouth. and mouthwash may not be that bad if swallowed, about the most that could happen with that is that you could possibly swallow to much and get kinda sick at the stomach. not to mention that it does have alcohol in it also and it will sting more so than anything Else. the other stuff they gave you is it a cream or antibiotic cream? if so that's what you should be using. anything Else could be toxic to you if you accidentally ingest it. you may want to try coco butter also for healing without all the stinging. we wouldn't want to hurt those cute lips of yours. anyway I hope this bit of advise helped. I'll be on stand by for your next question. until then stay sweet.

If I were to apply at a store like H&M would they care if I had a lip Piercing?

I'll ask it in this section because H%26amp;M is so queer ;D jk.. kinda!

plus I'm always in this section hahaIf I were to apply at a store like H%26amp;M would they care if I had a lip Piercing?
When you enter adulthood and enter the working world as a professional you have to conduct yourself as one.

Often times it's your image and personality that keeps the Consumer coming back. Be an adult and act professional. I suggest dropping the body jewelry until you see what the others are dressed like.If I were to apply at a store like H%26amp;M would they care if I had a lip Piercing?
Go into a store that you'd like to apply for work in and take a look at the employees, see if they have piercings anywhere or other indications that would ease your mine.

But if I'm not mistaken it would be discrimination not to hire you because you have a piercing. They may not want to hire you because of one, but if they wanted to avoid a law suit they'd think of a more legitimate reason not to.
I've no idea who H%26amp;M is; but, if it were me, I wouldn't care. On the other hand, lots of companies care because they have an ';image'; to uphold, or some such.

If I were you, I'd look at the company's dress code for employees.

    Good luck.
Every company has the right to implement its own grooming and personal appearance standards. Perhaps you can check with a Personnel Manager through their website.
If I owned a business I would not allow any kind of piercing except in the ears and then only three per ear. A lot of customers are turned off by them and personally I do not like them or tattoos.
Don't know about H%26amp;M but many retail stores are pretty picky won't like piercings and do not like visible tattoos.
I don't think so. Sometimes, they just make you put in a plastic retainer at work.
    they dont care.
i've seen in H%26amp;M in Finland, employees who had eyebrow piercings...

Which country r u in? I don't think they would mind... plus lip piercings are HOTTTT!!

I got my lip pierced a few months ago, and I was told not to use ear cleaning stuff. It's probably not safe to get around your mouth. I was told to swish alcohol-free mouth wash, and wash the actual piercing and area around it with soap such as Dove and Dial. Just dont use the ear stuff from Claires.

Does this lip piercing care sound okay?

Can I still use chap stick for dry lips?Does this lip piercing care sound okay?
bactine is NOT good for piercings so do not use it.

listerine is way too strong to use for a piercing, you're best off getting a alcohol free mouthwash instead.

for washing do sea salt soaks or soap and water.

it's okay to suck on a bit of ice while your piercing is healing to bring down the swellingDoes this lip piercing care sound okay?
