How do i take care of my lip piercing?

well i got my lip pierced yesterday n now idk how to take care of it i dont have any mouthwash to use and i just found out i was using alcohol mouthwash so what can i use to take care of it at home?? can i use salt like table salt and water?? cuz my lip is still very swollen oh and any ideas on how to make the swelling go down?How do i take care of my lip piercing?
BACTINE! it will keep any infections from occuring and it cleans it really well and it's also a pain reliever. there is a nice one you can buy at the store that is a spray i used it on my lip ring and my belly ring and never once got an infection. you're just gonna have to stick it out for a few weeks with the swelling and the pain because its just gonna get worse over the next week or so sorry =( but after that you will love it i swear!How do i take care of my lip piercing?
Wow. Someone has a hate on lip rings apparently. Don't listen to that - life is all about personal expression and finding out who YOU are.





That said, first of all: to get the swelling to come down, suck on ice. As much as you can. The first few days after mine was done my lip did swell up quite a bit but I iced it all the time and after that it was fine. You can also take something with ibuprofen (eg Advil), which is an anti-inflammatory and will help the swelling go down.





As far as cleaning it...you can try a surgical scrub called hibitane (I used this on my cartilage and belly button when I had them pierced and it worked pretty well) OR use a sea salt %26amp; water soak on the outside of your lip (I had a pre-prepared solution called H2Ocean that I used on both my nose and lip piercings, and didn't have ANY problems healing my nose or lip), and if you don't have any alcohol-free mouthwash, you can use the saltwater to swish inside of your mouth to clean the back of it (but mouthwash really is better). Clean it after you eat anything, but not more than that - too much and you'll just end up irritating the piercing.

Use a non alcoholic mouthwash for a couple of weeks in the morning and evening.


And you need to soak the piercing in saline solution (salt and water) for 10 minutes twice a day until the piercing has healed completely (around 4 weeks for your lip).





If it gets a crusty build up on the outside DON'T PICK IT! That will irritate it and prolong the healing period. Just soak the piercing in saline solution again.
lip piercings are nasty %26amp; ugly looking. It makes ppl judge you %26amp; assume that you are a walking freak. No normal thinking person puts a whole in their face.





Just think about it honey, i'm not trying to be mean. I'm telling you the truth. People wont take you seriously. Take out that silly lip ring. You look great without it.
