Lip piercing care?

i got my lip pierced on thursday. chris (the guy who pierced it) told me to use listerine after i ate, drank, or smoked. he also told me to use bactine when i wake up and before bed.

yesterday, however, my friend got me thinking when she told me not to use the listerine anymore: theres so much alcohol in it, it will delay healing and destroy good tissue. should i use salt water instead?

also a lady told me yesterday that the swelling would go down if i squeezed the fluid out of it. i am so tempted because the swelling it making it sore, but it just doesnt sound like a good idea even if i washed my hands and disinfected afterwards. good idea or bad?

also i'd like to know when i can take out the ring without struggling in pain to get it back in. chris said the healing take 2-3 weeks, is this accurate?

thanks

xxLip piercing care?
I have my lip pierced, and I will tell you what I was told, and it worked very well.

Do a sea salt rinse 2-3 times a day, but make sure the salt is UNIODIZED!!! That is very very important. Wash the outside with dial soap 2-3 times daily and make sure to spin the ring all the way around a few times to get the soap inside the piercing.

Rince with warm water.

Mouthwash isnt a must, it can cause complications with the piercing, but if you want to rince with mouthwash make sure its like the crest mouthwash, the one without alochol in it.

You should keep the piercing in 6-8 weeks before changing it.Lip piercing care?
Here's what i recommend:

Use alcohol free mouth wash, if you do not have access to any, use Listerine 70%water 30% listerine only once a day when you wake up.

Each time you put something else then water in your mouth, wash it with with a sea salt solution (8oz of water 2\4 of table spoon of sea salt, if you taste the salt int he solution, it's too strong, so put more water in it).

The swelling will get smaller in the first week, and in the second week it will start completely disapearing.

Do not squeaze your piercing, you will only irritate it. The fluids will drain them selves, your body knows what to do, let it do it's thing! Do not take your ring out for an least 5-6 weeks, the piercing might seem healed because piercings heal from the outside in, but it doesn't mean they're healed. If you remove it before this period of time and put it back in it will only irritate your piercing making the healing process longer or even impossible of the scar tissu gets too much trauma too often.
DO WHAT THE PROFESIONAL TELLS YOU TO!!!!! They ususaly know best. I wouldn't squeeze the fluid out either. It will just make it hurt worse. I would'nt take it out untill the swelling goes down and its healed.
How to Take Care of Your Lip or tongue Piercing

Immediately after getting pierced, apply ice to the lip or tongue. Keep applying ice for at least 3 days. The ice helps relieve the swelling.

Purchase a 1 pint bottle of Listerine. Rinse your mouth EVERY time you put anything in it such as food, beverages, cigarettes, etc. Repeat until the Listerine is gone and the bottle is empty.

Once you use all the Listerine, continue to rinse your mouth after eating and drinking with saltwater. Fill the 1 pint bottle with warm water and add 2 tablespoons of salt. Shake until the salt is dissolved.

When you finish with the 1 pint of saltwater, repeat the above process.
