Taking care of a lip piercing?

i just had my lip pierced by my friend and it came out perfect, but im worried about it getting infected. i know i need to clean it with a saline solution. i heard you can clean it with just mouthwash too, if so what kind would be best? what should i stay away from that could cause it to become infected and is there anything else i should really know? and my friend isnt a professional so i'm guessing the chances for infection would be greater.Taking care of a lip piercing?
i've had my lip peiced for a while, just clean it with salt and warm water when you wake up and before you go to bed. it will feel sore for a while but just keep doing the salt and warm water for about two weeks. My lip turned out great and never got infected, my peircer told me to use the salt and warm water too. good luck. oh ps make sure you are turning it so the skin doesn't grow over it.Taking care of a lip piercing?
Make sure that you wash the outside daily with a non-scented, antibacterial soap like Dial. I used to clean it three times a day but I think once in the morning and once in the evening is good enough. Also make sure to clean the inside of your mouth with a non-alcohol mouthwash for around one minute after every meal. You can also mix warm water and sea salt and gargle that in your mouth for about 15 seconds and then spit it out.

They say to not drink alcohol but I think I did that same night and I was fine. They also say to not smoke, but I did that too and it turned out awesome for me. They say to not eat salty or spicy foods, and I didn't but I remember my friend did when she got hers done and it stung and irritated her mouth a bit so I would stay away from those foods. If you do drink or smoke make sure to clean the piercing thoroughly after you do so.

Also you should try to eat ice cream or anything cold and frozen as it will reduce the swelling.

Make sure whenever you are cleaning it that your hands or clean otherwise you are just feeding the bacteria on your hands into your new wound. There will be some puss and sometimes crust so make sure to clean those whenever you see them.
Stay away from mouth wash with alcohol in it (and alcohol in general, for that matter) and dairy. Saline solution could work (I've never used it), but I've had good luck with sea salt soaks (a pinch of sea salt to a cup of warm water).
