How do you care for a bottom lip piercing?thats just got pierced?

Know that most piercing places will give you some type of topical solution to apply to your new piercing. Most of these solutions are expensive and generally as effective as what you can do at home yourself.

Understand that any combination of the following will help your piercing to heal more quickly and with less risk for infection.

Use Dial or other soap to cleanse the front of your lip and the ring. Place a small amount of soap on the ring and spin it through. Rinse with water.

Cleanse inside of your mouth by using a listerene or a mixture of 1 tablespoon of salt to an 8 ounce glass of water. Swish and spit!

Neosporin may be applied to the outside of your piercing and will generally help speed up the healing process.

Tips

Make sure you brush your teeth!!!

Have fun! Body piercing can be a fun way to express yourself.

Warnings

Please note that these instructions are for someone with a new piercing that is not infected!

If you think that you have an infection (excess ';crust'; on the ring, smelly pus, etc) take the ring out! It will not heal properly if you do not clean the entire region. If any swelling or bruising occurs remove and do not replace the jewelry. How do you care for a bottom lip piercing?thats just got pierced?
