How do you care for a lip piercing?

i know im stupid for asking but i just dont know how to!How do you care for a lip piercing?
I got a vertical labet 2 months ago.





The msot important thing you need to know is to treat it like an open wound,that's basically what it is.





Wash it twice daily or as many times as your piercer tells you to,don't touch it.





Don't play with it,or smoke.





Of course,my piercer was an ignorant one..he never told me any of this,so as soon as i got back in the car,i lit up a cigarette.





Generally mine healed up really good, and I havent had any problems out of it.How do you care for a lip piercing?
don't get one...
Just make sure you clean round the outside of your lip piercing with a saline solution once at morning and once at night.. =]

PS: your piercer (hopefully professional) should've given you a care sheet.
Sea-salt soaks are good. You can find out how to make them online, I don't know off the top of my head though.


Don't touch it except to clean it. And wash your hands with anti-bacterial soap.


Don't excessively clean it (like 30 times per day or anything) because that can kill good bacteria helping your piercing heal.


Don't smoke or drink. It can irritate the piercing.


If it gets infected, don't take it out, just keep cleaning it.

All the answers are correct, but I just want to add something: Make sure it's non alcoholic mouth wash that you clean it with.
