How should I take care of a lip that busted with a hole from a tooth coming up the underside? ?

My husbands face just hit our front door. His lip is split pretty bad. I think his bottom tooth came up from the underneath. What is the best way to heal it? I think the bleeding has stopped, I have him sitting with a rag on it. I just don't know what to put on it or how to have it close up. Im sure getting him to an ER is not going to happen.How should I take care of a lip that busted with a hole from a tooth coming up the underside? ?
Did his tooth cut thru his lip? Does it have a hole in in that you can see thru? If it does he is going to need sutures. The lip bleeds alot~its vascular and also heals fast. But if he has a laceration that cut thru he will need to get it sutured or it will leave an ugly scar. Also use ice for the swelling.
