What're the best steps to taking care of a lip piercing?

Recently got my lip pierced and I wanted to know what the best ways are to keeping it clean and from being infected.


AND how to get rid of an infection if it does occur.

if you get an infection just use any anti-bacterial soap


but infections never really occur if you got it done professionally


only swelling at first for some people

Use a little bit on listerine (blue or green) in the morning and swish it around really good in your mouth. Do that before you go to bed too.


After you eat (even just a little snack) mix some salt in water and swish that around in your mouth but DONT SWALLOW. i also put some in a spoon and hold it to the outside of my piercing for a few seconds. you can also dab a q-tip in salt water and clean the inside and outside of your piercing. avoid pop and alcohol for about a month. it takes 3-5 months for a lip piercing to COMPLETELY heal and it will be swollen for 1-2 weeks. try not to sleep on it or bump it or anything until its healed.


when mine was still healing i kinda chewed on it a bit haha so that wont do anything bad to it.
